That is how Dr. Thomas F. Torrance opens his book The School of Faith: The Catechisms of the Reformed Church. The book consists of two parts. The first is a long introductory word from the A school of the church book, or really editor, regarding theology in general and these 11 Scottish Presbyterian catechisms in particular which dominate the second, and greater 5/5(2).

This book is excellent and I highly recommend it. It gives a short history of the Divine Office, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours, and it provides commentary on each psalm used in the Office.

Please note, that this is not the best book to learn HOW to read the Office. It IS a great book of commentaries on the psalm which dominate the by: 1. Church book definition, any of various books commonly used by a church, as a service book or a parish register.
